Me and Him
It's me and him. I have watched my son grow into the man he is today. Along his journey, we have walked together. I've always told him that I can't walk it for him, but I can walk it with him, by his side. I've seen him stumble. I've seen him fall. He's seen me stumble and fall. But we're together through it all, helping each other up, dusting each other off, and celebrating each other's wins no matter how small they may seem.
Each element in this piece has significance. The abstract figures allows the viewers to see themselves - a mother, a child, an aunt, a caregiver, a sister, a friend. The warm reds illustrate the love and the bond the two figures. I intentionally left the two figures not touching, but merely side by side. In addition, I chose to view the figures from the back, as though the two were walking away together on their journey.
